Get Ali's remaining family to safety

Donation protected
Hello world

I am Ali Iyad Totah. Please read this as if I am one of your family - your brother, your son, your cousin - as if my remaining family that is dying right now is your family.

My name is Ali. I was supposed to start my career and fulfill the dreams I had for myself, but now my city is destroyed as well as any hope of a better future in it.

After a whole 6 years of study and training, the war had other plans. On Oct 17 of last year, just over a week after the escalation started, I lost 35 members of my family in one second. One rocket was enough to end their lives: dad, mom, six sisters, two brothers, four uncles, three aunts, along with all their children and grandchildren. None of them survived it.
My losses didn't end there - on Dec 17 I also lost my cousins on my dad's side together with their husbands and children, who are still under the rubble to this day. It was a cruel reminder that death hasn't stopped, and that none of us are excluded in this genocide - no man, no woman, no child. Each of us is a target.

I initially presented myself as a dreamer, a boy in his twenties with career plans and goals to achieve, a human being who has lost a lot in a short period of time. But in this war I am the oldest brother, who sees the future of his siblings lost before his eyes.

We are now literally homeless, and the situation is getting worse by the day. You are our last hope, every dollar you donate makes a difference to our lives and our family's future.

About my remaining family

Mahmoud is the only brother I have left among my siblings, a 14-year-old who escaped death several times. Mahmoud was very ambitious and very diligent in his studies, and he took first place in our junior weightlifting at the Gaza level as he was interested in bodybuilding despite his young age. He's now one of thousands of children from the Gaza Strip with a story of shattered dreams and growing psychological problems.

I'd also like to tell you about my cousin Muhammad's daughters, the only survivors of the Baptist Hospital massacre: Sewar and Lian.
Lian, a 10-year-old who once had a dream of becoming a doctor, has now lost her mother, father and sisters. She's in need of facial plastic surgery and a proper amputation of her middle finger as a result of the massacre. Sewar (2) has escaped death many times for her age, and desperately needs to live and grow up in a safe environment like the rest of the world's children.

Then there's my cousins Yamen and Zain, who lost their father, mother and all their siblings. Yamen (8) escaped death, but was badly injured and needs surgery in his abdomen and face, there's a fracture in his shoulder, and he doesn't get much sleep due to the intensity of his pain.
Zain (3) is suffering mentally, and needs surgery on his left thigh.

My cousins Muhammed and Moumin. Muhammed (10) was very ambitious, but this tragedy destroyed all his dreams. His younger brother Moumin was very attached to his mom, and his autism has made it extremely difficult for him to handle her martyrdom. His dad has shut down completely and remains in a state of shock, and he doesn't function anymore or talk to anyone. it's a disaster that has befallen my entire family.

A breakdown of the amount we need to raise:
  • About $45,000 is needed to cover the expenses of obtaining permits to leave Gaza, as crossing the Rafah border amounts to between $7000 and $9000 per person
  • $10,000 for accommodation expenses in Cairo while waiting for the children's much needed surgeries and medical help
  • The operations are estimated to cost us just under $5,000 per person
  • The rest of the amount will be divided fairly among everyone for their remaining needs

Every dollar from this fundraiser will be used to evacuate and support my family from Gaza.

I hope with all my heart that we reach the desired goal before it's too late - this is a genocide and our death is only a matter of time.

A few words from the creator of this fundraiser

Hello, my name is Ronja and I'm a woman living on the coast of Norway. I've known Ali for a while now, and have been in personal touch more than enough to guarantee their legitimacy. Ali is a well-spoken and compassionate guy, who you can talk about anything and everything with. Amazingly he's even kept a beautiful sense of humor and empathy through his unimaginably heavy losses, and I so badly want to see them live the life they deserve in the safety I'm so privileged to enjoy in my day-to-day life.

You can find me on instagram at @ronja.timber if you have any questions or doubts about the fundraiser.

Thank you so much for your time, any help is hugely appreciated.
