Get an orca bathtub for Lucy
Donation protected
Hey every one I'm making this fundraiser because I Can't figure out A good bathing option for my 19month old Lucy. She has severe HIE due to A SIDS/possible SUDEP episode she was resuscitated from. She is now a quadriplegic, has cerebral palsy, dravet syndrome, has a tracheostomy, gtube and other medical conditions. The best option I found is the Orca bathtub with the penguin seat.... but it's about $2000. Insurance will only cover A bath chair for the actual tub. Which is way across the house in A small bath room; extremely inconvenient and not safe if there were to be an emergency where she needs immediate intervention or paramedics. I also can't carry her, the vent, her oxygen tank/Ambu bag, suction machine and pulse sock across the house all at the same time by my self when it's time to take her out and take her back to the room to get her dressed...people have suggested use her stroller or A wagon, the way the hallway is build you can't fit those threw the twists and turns to get in the bathroom....also the heater in the bathroom is one of those old school gas heaters with the open flame, which is so dangerous around an oxygen tank. She would have to freeze in the winter time, she runs cold and goes hypothermic without heat so just having it cold while bathing her is not an option... I tried the prima toddler tub other families suggested but her dislocated hips couldn't fit so had to send that back. Her current tub is way to small, we don't get chucks until she is 4 so bed baths aren't even an option. I've spoken to social workers and PT etc but all they say is "you have to get creative like other families have". These devices exist that are exactly what kids like ours need, but there is no way to actually obtain them unless you have money. Working to save up the money is unfortunately not an option sense we have no consistent nursing resulting in me having to stay home and care for her. Her disability doesn't even cover all her medical supplies and medication, so defiantly not an option to just use that to get the tub.
Any help to make sure I can get A suitable device to safely bath my baby would be absolutely amazing and appreciated beyond belief.
