So for those that don't know me, I was born with a spinal condition called Scoliosis which at the age of 9 meant I needed a wheelchair.
At that time I was eligible for NHS wheelchairs and during my school years I used a powerchair to get around.
Now I am 24 and have made the move to London, I live independently and want to live my life as an adult without constant support from people around me.
As it currently stands I can walk for about 5 minutes before I am tired and in a lot of pain and therefore means I cannot get around without the use of a wheelchair. My manual one means that I constantly need someone to push me which is taking away my own independence.
It's becoming frustrating that I cant do the simplest things like go to the shop for some milk without having to ask for help.
I want to be able to go to the shops when I please, pick up some food and just generally go out and about without the constant help of another person.
To do this I really need a powerchair.
I have gone through the long application for an NHS one but despite being eligible years ago they have now said I am not eligible. I tried to fight this but they will not budge.
I wanted to find the perfect chair for me, one that I felt comfortable in, that was good to use outdoors and one that didn't make me feel self conscious. I tested a few and instantly fell in love with the WHILL Model C. https://www.tgamobility.co.uk/whill/model-c
