Bella's fundraiser for cancer treatment in Germany

We have started this GoFundMe to help get Bella and her family to Germany for cancer treatment. Bella is my niece and at just 16 years young, is in the fight of her life. During the last 2 and a half years Bella has had the best care and medical team Australia has to offer and we couldn't be more grateful, but they have tried everything and are now all out of options. We need your help to get the Betts family to Germany for promising treatment for Bella not yet available in Australia. Bella's dad, Justin, outlines her story so far...

"At the age of 14 Isabella was diagnosed with metastatic osteosarcoma just before Christmas 2020.

In the past 2 and a half years she has undergone 3 different chemotherapy treatments, partial removal of her left humerus plus shoulder reconstruction, 4 major lung surgeries, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy. During this time there have been many ups and down for Isabella and the rest of the family, especially the isolation felt by all during the long periods of separation from family and friends, but she has always faced each challenge with bravery and determination that is truly inspiring, showing dedication to school studies, continuing to enjoy her love of competitive swimming with the restricted use of one arm, learning to drive and even starting her first part-time job.

Despite all the fantastic dedication and care the medical teams in Westmead and Orange hospitals have provided it has become apparent that her cancer is continuing to persist in her lungs and there are not any viable options left for effective treatment in Australia.

However, there is hope, we have consulted with a medical clinic in Germany that is pioneering therapy incorporating hyperthermic treatment with adapted chemotherapy, immunotherapy and biological infusions that have had positive results with sarcomas. They have put together a treatment plan that can commence around the 10th of May.

This is where we need your help….

Throughout Isabella’s cancer journey, we have been very reluctant to accept any offers of money and have been blessed with an unbelievable amount of help and support from friends, family, workmates, and our local community. Words could never express how grateful we are, but the time has come to swallow our pride and reach out for monetary assistance.

The proposed treatment in Germany plus the associated travel and accommodation does not come cheap and this means we will need your help to get Bella through this challenge while hopefully keeping our family together and by her side."
