Get Branson back to Oakland!

Hey there! If you know me you know that Im very hard on myself when it comes to asking for help but y’all, I miss Oakland so so much! It was a place I called home for almost 3 years and It’s been hard for me since I moved away back to Redwood City. I would love to be closer to my community that I have had the privilege to be apart of. So this is me asking for help, help me move to Oakland again.

I work at Blue Bin Vintage in Palo Alto right now which is an awesome set up, love what I do and plan on working at the SF location full time once I move. My position is currently part time Tuesday-Friday and it’s been hard on me to save money. Im still selling clothes and freelance art as well but my job at Blue Bin Vintage is my main source of income.

I was pushed out of Oakland during the middle of the pandemic, before there was a vaccine for Covid. I lost my job and was freelancing art for a year all while trying to find a new job, which no one was hiring at the time and freelance work slowed down. With this set back I had to move back to the city I grew up in but no longer has my heart. It’s been a year since I moved back. I still spend most my weekends or any time I can get in Oakland. I want to start the next chapter in Oakland. The sooner I’m in Oakland the more I can focus on my passions that I’ve experienced while I was living there and continue to grown new connections and new opportunities that I can’t find in Redwood City.

What Oakland has given me is a feeling of not being alone, what real diversity and community looks like. I’ve learned how important this is to me and to be apart of these communities. I was creating so much while living in Oakland because of the creative energy that it provides. The beautiful art and talent that’s in Oakland is unmatched and inspires me till this day. The individuality of Oakland has taught me how to just be myself because people there aspire to be their best selves. And Ofcourse Oaklands beautiful landscape. It’s the most beautiful city I’ve set eyes on. This is why Oakland has my heart. My mental health has not been the same since not having these things in Redwood City. There’s nothing here for me anymore to carry. No inspiration and it’s has drained my drive to be my best self and thrive freely.

My goal is 5,500 dollars.

My rent budget is $800-$1,050

That’ll help me create a budget for moving expenses, security deposit and first months rent, groceries and other living expenses.
