I am raising money to help with the expenses of an Inogen 3 . This is a type of oxygen that is called a portable oxygen concentrator. It will allow me to take around oxygen that is light weight, has rechargeable batteries and it will allow me to have more freedom with moving around while wearing oxygen without having to constantly bring a few tanks with me in the car.
As many of you know, right now with exertion I rely on oxygen. This equipment that I have to carry around is heavy, has to be recharged at home, and can't be taken on airplanes and is not convenient enough for travel.
On top of having congenital heart disease, the reason why I am on the oxygen is because I have a breathing disorder called central hypoventilation syndrome. This is a condition of the brain not giving my body the proper signals to breathe in enough oxygen effectively with exertion and activity. My methods of treatment right now include daily medications to help my heart function, steroid inhalers, BIPAP machine during the day as needed and at night, and oxygen use with activity.
These past few months since November have been particularly difficult financially for my family and me. The Inogen 3 is expensive in itself. If I am able to get the Inogen from a friend that reached out to me, I will still need to get a rechargeable double battery, power cords, AC adapter chargers for it, a backpack for it, and other necessary equipment to maintain the oxygen concentrator.
It is crucial after my upcoming surgery on May 13th that I use my oxygen when needed with activity. I want to be the best version of myself after this surgery to correct my aorta and esophagus.
I need to gain my strength back and I know that having something easier to carry around with me that supports my life and gives me oxygen will truly help. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover both oxygen tanks and portable oxygen and it certainly doesn't cover the charge of extra batteries and maintenance equipment for the oxygen.
I truly appreciate any support at all and I know that I have what it takes to get physically stronger after this surgery. I want to make sure my body is well oxygenated as I take on more activity and get back to my "self".
