Get Copley Cricket Club back up and running !
Copley Cricket Club NEEDS YOU!
If you have ever visited The Arches as a spectator, attended a function, played for or against the club, we are sure you will understand our plight. The video footage and images show the destruction caused by Storm Ciara, and our third catastrophic flood in just 8 years.
These recent events have caused the Club to rethink our future and we really do need financial help to get our long-established, family club up and running again.
We are asking for support in the form of donations. Money raised will help upgrade our flood resilience and future-proof our pavilion, out-buildings and nets. Funds will also help with much needed repairs to the damaged playing surface.
Existing bookings of the Club’s facilities have been cancelled and relocated to other local venues, and future bookings have been suspended indefinitely. Event bookings are our major source of income and integral to the Club’s survival.
We need to get some stability to the Club in order to provide a platform for being ‘open for business’ before the start of the cricket season at the end of April. There’s a long way to go and this Go Fund Me page is the start of a series of fundraising activities that we have planned for 2020.
Our aim is to continue to be one of the leading cricket clubs in Calderdale but, at the same time, to maintain our long-standing reputation as a friendly, family and community orientated club. The development of our juniors, and indeed Junior Cricket in general, continues to be a top priority and is an integral part of the Club’s vision and ethos.
Please give generously. Our target is high, but high for a reason, as without these funds the long term future of our amazing club is in jeopardy.
We are extremely grateful for any donations made.
Sincere thanks.
Copley Cricket Club.
ABOUT COPLEY CRICKET CLUB
Copley Cricket Club is a Yorkshire Cricket Board ("YCB") Focus a Club and has been awarded Sport England's Club Mark accreditation. This means that we have met all the necessary criteria as to; playing programme, coaching, child protection, sports equity, ethics, club management and that we continue to provide a high quality and welcoming environment for young people in sport.
We are members of the Halifax Cricket League and have three senior teams (two play on Saturday and one on Sunday) all competing in the premier sections of their respective leagues.
We are particularly proud of our thriving junior section. We are a member of the Halifax Junior Cricket League and run teams in the U9's, U11's, U13's, U15's and U17's age categories. We also run a girls team (South Halifax Girls) and fully embrace the ECB's All Stars programme for 4 to 7 year olds.
We have a dedicated group of qualified ECB coaches working with these youngsters. Many of our young cricketers have gone on to play representative cricket at Taverners, District, County Age Group, Regional and full County levels.
The Club enjoys an excellent site for playing and watching cricket in an extremely picturesque setting. For many years Copley has staged major local cup finals, exhibition games and numerous junior festivals. We are also a club of choice for representative cricket from regional and district level up to County Age Group games. This continues the emphasis that we have given to schools and junior cricket in recent years and has considerably increased the Club’s profile with the YCB and within the wider community in Calderdale.
