Get Dave Pettway On the Road Again

If you don’t know Dave Pettway, you should. Have you ever met someone who is so filled with joy that they just make you feel good about yourself when they talk to you? Dave is exactly that kind of person. He makes his living as a musician and worship leader but, like all of us, COVID-19 has forced him to change nearly every aspect of his life. When the opportunities to make a living in the profession that he is so gifted in dried up, he began driving Uber to be able to pay for rent, food and his medication. (I have to interject here that I can just picture him blessing his riders with encouragement and maybe a song.)
I wish Dave ministering to people while he drives to was the end of the story… Unfortunately, a couple of months ago Dave found out that his car needs the transmission completely rebuilt. He was making just enough money to get by and did not have any extra money to put towards the car repairs. Unable to drive Uber anymore, Dave lost his residence and is currently living in a shelter. This is where you come in: you have the power to help make Dave’s future a bright one by easing his financial pain. You have the power to help keep him employed and help him avoid homelessness.
I have to pause here and let you know that Dave does not like the idea of only focusing on his personal hardship, so he is promising to share your generosity by donating 20% of whatever he receives to the Feed the Children organization. In America 1 in 4 children are living in a food insecure household. Feed the Children is one of the leading charities in the U.S. dedicated to ending childhood hunger. They also match every gift received 7 times over. I don’t want to sound like a telethon, but the math is impressive: if you donate $50, $10 of that will be donated to Feed the Children, so you will have given $40 to help Dave and $80 to feed hungry children!
When I was going through some of my memories of Dave over the years, I found this video. I tried to edit it so it wasn't too long, but I just couldn't find any part that wasn't needed. I do apologize for the video quality, it was recorded on a cell phone about 8 years ago, but I chose it because Dave is speaking into his situation today at the beginning of the video. I dare you to listen to it and not feel encouraged!
I hope that you will consider making a donation to help get Dave back on his feet (or more accurately, back on the road.) Any amount you can donate will be helpful and appreciated more than you can imagine. After 20% goes to Feed the Children, the remaining money will be used for car repairs, deposit money for an apartment or room, food and medication. Now is your opportunity to support and encourage someone who has spent his life supporting and encouraging others.
Please help in whatever way you can, and please share this with your friends.
