Get Jim a Wheelchair Van

Hi everyone,

I am reaching out (again...) because we are trying to get my dad a wheelchair van. As most of you know Jim has been living in Apple Valley Village Nursing home since August of last year. Jim has been doing well there but is not getting out as much as he would like. Most days he is in bed. We have tried some wheelchair van services and have struggled with the services showing up when requested. It has been hard to plan outings as we cannot fully rely on if a ride will be there to pick him up. Jim has a much bigger wheelchair that does not fit in any regular vehicle. All Jim wants to do is see his grandkids, take them places, and go out to dinner or happy hour at his favorite places. He wants to go to Twins games and the park and teach Ray how to throw a baseball. We would love to be able to take him to our houses when there is a celebration. Relying on transportation has made all that difficult and so he misses out on a lot of family events.

We are looking at buying a wheelchair van in hopes to get him out of his bed and participating in life again. We are asking for help ONLY IF YOU CAN! Please do not feel any pressure and know that we appreciate all positive thoughts and prayers as well as any monetary gift. This has been a journey for all of us and we are trying our best to give our dad a wonderful life after his stroke.
