Get Katie to Drama School
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Katie, and I have been offered a place to study at the London-based drama school Associated Studios on their MA Musical Theatre Performance course in October 2022!
This is an incredible achievement and opportunity and is one I never thought I would get to pursue.
All I need is a little help to get me there.
Fees are £14,500, however the government only provide loans of up to £11,836, and so I will need help covering the rest of the fees, not to mention the cost of living for a year!
Coming from a working class and disadvantaged background, I never thought that I would be able to follow my dream of becoming an actress. My mother died from cancer when I was 11, and I left my abusive father's household when I was 17, officially being declared homeless. My dreams seemed so far beyond reach - I retreated into my shell, lost all of my confidence and didn’t generally tell anyone about my dream. Even when I did, no one supported or encouraged me.
Now, aged 30, after years of supporting myself through university, work, and building up my performance skills and confidence, I finally had the courage to apply for and get into drama school to try to make my dreams a reality and train to become a performer.
I am doing everything I can to earn as much money as possible, and have even undertaken a second job alongside my full-time job to try to earn as much as I can in the run up to the course commencement.
However, as I have no parents to provide any further help, nor any savings due to my situation, and the fact that I will also need to give up my full time job once the course starts, I am looking for any extra financial help I can get to cover course fees and living costs.
I understand times are tough and there is so much going on in the world and I am not expecting anyone to donate, but if you feel at all that you could spare anything, it would be so helpful - even if the price of a cup of coffee.
Performing on stage is the thing that gives me the most joy in the entire world, and I am now in the best place in my life, and have finally been given the chance to turn my dream into my reality.
I want to be able to show people that it doesn't matter what your start was in life - you can always achieve your dream.
I am therefore kindly asking that you donate anything you can - anything you could spare would be so helpful and I would be forever grateful.
Love from
Katie
