Hello!
As some of you may know, last April I debuted my original one-person show, Figurehead, at Grand Valley State University. Since graduating, I've moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams of acting and writing for a living.
In January, I saw an ad posting for The United Solo Theatre Festival - the world's largest international solo theatre festival, taking place every year in New York City. On a whim, I decided to enter my show into the running, figuring it would be a long shot.
It is my immense privilege to announce that Figurehead has been chosen as an official selection for the 2019 United Solo Theatre Festival! I will be performing my original work on 42nd street in the New York Theatre District on October 23rd, 2019! It's hard to express how much this means to me. Though I've moved to L.A. to pursue a career in film, theatre has always been my first love, and I've dreamed of performing in New York City for my entire life. The fact that I have the opportunity to perform my own original piece goes far beyond any of my wildest expectations.
While this is a huge dream come true for me, it will take a great deal of time, money, and hard work to get me there. This is why I'm asking for your help. The funds raised on this platform will go towards airfare, hotels, renting set pieces, props, and more. It will also help keep me afloat as I take time off of work to rehearse. I know that a lot of people who'd like to see the show will likely not be able to attend, so showing your support by donating even the minimum amount would mean the world to me.
I will keep everyone updated on my progress as well as information on where to buy tickets once they're available.
I'm so incredibly grateful to have been chosen as a participant in the United Solo Theatre Festival, and for all of your support. Once again, I never in a million years would have expected that I'd get an opportunity like this, and that is why I feel it is absolutely necessary to ensure I am able to give the highest quality performance possible.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message. Even that means more to me than you could ever imagine. If you are not in a position to donate that is more than understandable. Just sharing this link shows your support in a way I appreciate more than words!!
Thank you, again. See you soon New York!
