As most of you know because I never shut up about her but this is Little Peggy.
Peggy was born with a double cleft lift a grade one cleft palate a toe missing, her umbilical cord attached to her head and to top it off we found out when she was 6 weeks old that she also has a soft palate (a hole in the back of her throat that goes straight to her lungs).
Our vets have said what a little miracle she is as she should have been tube fed from day one and yet Peggy was bottle fed, eats food all by herself but still however has to have water from a hamster bottle as she can not lap it up.
None of the above seem to cause her any issue apart from the hole in her soft palate. When Peggy is sick (like puppies can be from time to time) it fills her lungs and drowns them. This has happened on a few occasions now and Peggy can not clear it on her own.
The vets have said Peggy needs to have surgery to close the hole or Peggy will die if she is sick when no one is around. For this kind of surgery a soft tissue specialist is needed and after searching and ringing countless vets and specialist who all declined and said it is to complex, we have finally found a specialist who is willing to do her surgery after putting an appeal out on social media.
Sadly like most things in life, nothing is ever free and believe me if love could pay the vet bills Peggy would have been covered 10x over.
We have been quoted between £3,500 - £4,500. I know some people will think I'm crazy but there's nothing I won't do for her, she's shown me how amazing and precious life really is and I'm desperate to give her the best chance at life as she has fought from day one.
I've sucked sick out of her mouth and lungs by giving her mouth to mouth, reduced my hours to try minimize the chances of something happening when no one is around. Selling everything and anything on Vinted, (pet insurance doesn't cover pre existing problems.) Organised a a in it to win it hamper. The 5 hours I'm out of the house my phone is set up with her camera on the screen at all times so if anything happens I can ring Lewis to get home asap.
There is nothing I won't do for her. So far I've managed to raise £750 from the hamper. I am desperate and ask if anyone can please help however small the amount, it all helps and goes towards the end goal, giving little Peggy the best chance. Thank you for reading x
