Get Logan to a Neuro-Opthamplogist

Aloha,

Our name’s are Kanoe and Brandon. We are the parents of Logan. Logan is 11 years old and has had ongoing medical conditions since birth. Logan was born with transposition of the great arteries, and was transported to San Diego from Honolulu at 3 days old. Upon reaching San Diego, Logan caught a virus and the medication to help ended up putting him into complete renal failure. After multiple round of dialysis Logan was finally strong enough to fix his heart and after 2 surgeries he was all patched up. Luckily upon returning to Hawaii from San Diego at 10 weeks old, we have never had to seek care outside of Hawaii. He will always have ongoing medical concerns but over the last 6 months we have had our attention on a new medical concern that we need to figure out. Which means we need to return to California to see a medical specialist that Hawaii does not have. Unfortunately our PPO health insurance will not cover the cost of travel, lodging or transportation, unless he was admitted in the hospital in Hawaii and medically transported to California,to see a doctor that is UNAVAILABLE in Hawaii. I can rant about health insurance coverage all day, but I won’t.

If you know Logan, he is the kindest, sweetest little human. He loves everyone and doesn’t have a bad bone in his body. He understands that his life will always have its challenges but he always has such a great attitude about it, he has bad days of course, what 11 year old doesn’t wonder why this has to happen to them right? Or the famous- why can’t I just be a normal kid? He isn’t normal, he’s extraordinary, he is special and we are so lucky we get to be his parents.

As his parents we just want to make sure we give him all the medical attention and care he needs to ensure he has the best childhood we can give him. We are not ones to usually ask for help, but this is something that was unexpected.

Logan and Kanoe (because taking the 2 babies will cost to much) will be flying during the summer and we are asking for help to cover medical fee’s, airfare, hotel, food and a rental car while we are there.
