Get Mazz back on the road

As many of you know, back in February I was in a car accident with a semi truck which totaled my vehicle, at no fault of my own. I was able to get a new one through the kindness of my family. His name is Riker. Last week, however, I was in another accident that totaled my brand new car and sent me to the ER (I'm okay now). Despite much debate, my insurance will not cover the damage. Because of a technicality.

I drive for a food delivery service and was on my way home to end my drive for the day. But because the app was still running at the time of the accident, my insurance claims I was still working. Even though by legal definition in the contract with the company I drive for, unless I am actively on a delivery, they don't consider me working. But my insurance does. It's bureaucracy and capitalism at its finest. I am going to attempt to contest the claim denial, but I don’t have much hope.

I use my car to work and now can not make money to pay my bills, which I was finally able to do on my own after several months struggling. My bank account is rapidly dwindling, I can not afford another car, and I need one to survive. This car was the perfect fit for me and I'm devastated he's gone. Trying to get back on my feet these last six months has been a struggle, and now this is starting a domino effect that could leave me very destitute and potentially having to move back to NY with my parents and start over. I've been living in California for almost 10 years and I have worked too hard to get to where I am to just give up. My friends are here. The path to my career is here. I need to stay.

My hope is that with the help of this incredible community, I will be able to crowdfund the money needed to purchase a vehicle and get back on the road. I appreciate any and all help folks can give, and I thank you for reading this. <3
