Get me divorced PLEASE

Hi, my name is Genevieve and I am fundraising to get myself divorced. The advisory financial hearing has taken place now, so I am hoping I can proceed with yeeting my husband for good.

I am a single parent of one adult child and two small children. I have a serious mental health illness, I’ve been running a small business with a friend since last year but my youngest children and I are still relying on supplementary state benefits to cover our basic needs.

I’ve been separated since 2020 but the whole divorce process has been lengthy and has cost me all the little savings I had. It has been delayed by court cancellations (covid) which cost me more money, and difficult behaviour by the other party. I have been defrauded and misled too.

I need at least £15k to pay off my legal debts, pay more for conveyancing to ensure my children can remain in their family home and then finally get that decree absolute and be out of this marriage and able to move on and rebuild my life.

I hate asking for money, and I have already begged and borrowed from family and friends, but I desperately want to to conclude these proceedings now and be out of the marriage at last.

So many women are trapped in marriages like mine, without financial agency, isolated, without any share of assets or say in finances, often having stayed at home to look after the house and children and therefore without an employment history, credit rating, any way of going it alone - and without legal aid for divorces, the costs involved can be prohibitive or lead to huge debts.
