Dear friends and supporters,
My name is Efrain zepeda, and I am an 18-year-old who is passionate about dirt biking, photography, and boxing.
Unfortunately, on November 19th, 2021, my life was forever changed when I was in a dirt bike accident that left me paralyzed from the shoulders down, with two broken vertebrae in my neck (C5 and C6).
As a result of this accident, I have had to give up many of the activities that brought me joy and purpose, including riding my dirt bike in the orchards, taking photos, and boxing with my friends. I used to love being independent and helping others, but now I have to rely on my family for help with even the most basic tasks.
Despite this difficult situation, I have been fortunate to receive rehabilitation from SCI fit Fresno, which has helped me maintain some mobility in my arms. However, I am still unable to move my hands and fingers, and I have been unable to walk since the accident.
This is why I am reaching out to you today. I am hoping to raise $50,000 through this GoFundMe campaign to help me undergo stem cell therapy in Columbia, which could potentially allow me to walk again. Stem cell therapy has shown promise in treating spinal cord injuries, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to regain my independence and pursue my passions.
I understand that times are tough for many people right now, but any donation you can make, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. I have always been a fighter, and I am determined to do everything in my power to regain my mobility and independence.
