Get My Van Out of Repossession
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jos. In late February I got let go from my position at Wal-Mart as a cashier because of issues with attendance due to illness. I suffer with depression and a inflammatory skin condition called hidradenitis suppurativa. Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a painful, long-term skin condition that causes skin abscesses and scarring on the skin. I often get flare ups due to excess stress (as well as rubbing from clothing in the folds and creases of my skin) that cause large bumps that make it painful to sit, stand, bend, and/or move depending on the severity of the bump and it's location.
While working at Wal-Mart my jeans and belt caused major irritation that left me in incredible pain almost daily causing me to miss a number of days from work. I attempted to follow protocol and submit paperwork to cover my missed shifts, but it was denied due to Sedgwick's assertion that I had not accrued the appropriate hours or number of days to make me eligible for Intermittent Leave. After my last major flare up I was then let go.
Since losing my job I have been applying for positions that I may be better suited for due to my conditions, but haven't heard back from any of them. Before getting let go from my position I had fallen behind on my car payments and since subsequently losing employment I haven't been able to catch up. On Sunday, March 14th 2024, the loan company (Santander), had my vehicle repossessed and a tow truck took it. I live in a rural area and the nearest town is 12 miles away. Not only do I need the van for transportation to work, but my mom and I both rely on it for her and my dad to go to their doctor's appointments.
This morning I called to speak with the loan agency, and was told I have 15 days to acquire $2437.39 before my van and only mode of transportation is put up for auction. This includes towing fees, late fees, and possibly a fee for a new key (even though my mom offered to give the repo man the key and he laughed saying he didn't need it).
Please help!
