Get Myah to her medical appointments

Myah May was born on the 25th of April 2022, with Cystic fibrosis. An inherited disorder that causes severe damage to the lungs, digestive system, and other organs in the body. This affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat, and digestive juices. These secreted fluids are usually thin and slippery. But in people with CF, a defective gene causes the mucus to become sticky and thick. Instead of acting as lubricants, the mucus plugs up tubes, ducts, and passageways, especially in the lungs. This makes Myah more susceptible to chest infections as well as a poor ability to gain and hold her weight.

Myah requires extensive care to monitor and manage the symptoms and progression of CF. Every month, Tyron and I are required to drive from Armidale to New Castles’s John Hunter Hospital where Myah can be assessed and treated for this disorder. Myah requires extensive care to monitor and manage the symptoms and progression of CF. If CF is left unmonitored and untreated, her lung function will gradually worsen, leading to life-threatening respiratory failure. It can also cause severe constipation due to internal blockage that would ultimately need surgery to fix. This is why it is imperative that Myah attends her appointments, and receives her medical therapy.
