Help Phil get Back on the Road!

You may recognize Phil Hotzon from around the community. He can be seen riding his tricycle all over the city and he is also a familiar face at Parkinson Rec Centre as a program participant and volunteer.  Phil was in an accident 10 years ago that left him with a traumatic brain injury.  He is unable to drive so he makes his way to appointments,  social outings, programs and work on his tricycle.  This year Phil was able to save up enough to purchase an electric tricycle to help him get around a little bit faster and a little bit easier.   Unfortunately, 2 weeks ago when Phil was riding his bike, he tried to make room for another cyclist on the path and ended up head first in the creek.  The other cyclist, as well as some nearby tennis players, were able to pull Phil to safety.  The whole time that he was being rescued, his biggest concern was the safety of his tricycle.

He found out today that his bike was not salvageable due to the length of time that it spent under water.   By some kind of miracle, with the bike supply shortage that is happening these days,  we have found the same bike available at a local bike shop.  They have agreed to put a sold sign on it to give us some time to raise funds to purchase the bike for Phil.  We are hoping to raise the funds in as short of time as possible so we can get Phil on the road again.

At this time the cost of the bike is beyond what Phil can afford as it will be close to $4500.  With your help we are hoping to raise enough to cover all of it.

Phil is the most motivated, positive person that shines so bright with his big smile and kind words.  He truly deserves a break and I’m hoping that we can give it to him.    Any donation will go a long way so please consider donating!

Any money over our initial goal will go towards replacing Phil’s lost items in the creek (phoneand glasses) and directly back to Phil. We can’tthank you all enough.
