On Friday 14th April, a week before he was about to return to Australia for his daughters 7th birthday; Remuna was in Bali for a quick break in between jobs when he was involved in an accident that has changed his whole course of life. Remuna is an ex-veteran and Static Security Guard Commander who has an immense joy for life and love for his daughter Maeva (7). Remuna has served for our country in Afghanistan as a veteran - and we are really hoping that Australia can help him in return. Remuna is an ex Australian Soldier & has served within 3RAR as a Rifleman for roughly 5 years as part of DFSW Platoon within operational service in Afganistan.
Sadly, Remuna who is 26, ended up in hospital emergency care after being knocked off his scooter in a forever-changing, heartbreaking accident and has been fighting for his life and is now on a long road to recovery back in Australia.
Remuna has suffered severe head injuries, including a bleeding to the brain, a fractured skull and extensive brain swelling. Remuna quickly required life-saving major brain surgery in Bali to remove part of his skull in order to relieve the pressure within his brain. Since the minute Remuna was admited into hospital, Remuna’s brother, uncle & other family flew tro Bali to be beside Remuna to give him love and relay as much information as possible to his former partner Meg and other immediate family members who remained in Australia fighting for Remuna to get the best care possible.
Remuna is currently home and safe, surrounded by family with love and support. Remuna and his daughter, Maeva have been able to exchange their love and see each other again - thanks to your support. At this stage, Remuna being the determined fighter he is and since returning to Australia; has shown signs of improvement by regaining consciousness although it is a day-by-day process and the extend of Remunas brain damage remains unknown. Remuna's recovery will likely require at least 2 years.
With the involvement of Medical Rescue in retrieving Remuna from Bali which was 150,000k and assisting in returning him to Australia, the medical expenses required to pay the Balinese Hospital for Remuna to be released which came to 60,000k and to cover other expenses from Remuna's immediate family that played a part in getting him back home, this Go Fund Me was made to support Remunas journey of coming home and future recovery and enables Remuna's family to furthermore support him and go towards anything the family will need in the immediate future and towards medical expenses to provide Remuna with the best possible rehabilitation care to progress his recovery.
There is a long journey to go, but we could not have obtained getting Remuna home to recieve the level of care without everybodys support, generosity and donations.
I am Meg Sproule who is the former partner of Remuna and we share a little girl named Maeva.
On behalf of Remuna, the funds will be transferred directly to me, to which I will then transfer directly to medical bills and/or providers/people necessary to get Remuna adequate care and to furthermore support his family at this time.
We thank everybody from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read, share, care & donate. This is a situation we never thought we would be in but we want to do everything possible to provide Remuna with the best care on this journey ahead. We believe that Remuna can too feel this love and support. Please know that this will be updated to allow you all to continue to follow on this journey and from the bottom of our hearts, we really do thank every single one of you.
