Get Sam & Jake to the Euro Taekwondo Championships

We are hoping to raise funds to help us get to the Taekwondo European Championships in Poland this April.

Here's a bit of our journey that has got us to this massive opportunity...

We both started training at Main's Martial Arts with our Instructor Miss Main in 2019. When we started, Main's Martial Arts was only twice a week at the sports hall in Bae Baglan. As Main's Martial Arts has grown as a club, we have grown with it. It has gone from 2 hrs a week in a sports hall to the club having it's own permanent Super Gym in Neath Abbey. We started as white belts, completely new to the sport and both fell in love with it from our first lesson.

We have worked non stop since we started to progress through the belts and represent our club in competitions in the UK and Europe. Winning Medals in all events and bringing home the Gold, putting Main's Martial Arts on the map. Our success has given us the titles of English, Welsh and British Champions.

All our hard work, determination and perseverance paid off last year when we were both promoted to 1st Degree Black Belts.

At only 12 and 13 years old, this has made us the youngest Black Belts to be selected to represent Wales in the European Championships 2024.

Not only is this a phenomenal achievement for ourselves but also for our club, our coach, our team mates and our families.

As well as us both being selected, our coach Miss Main was also chosen as one of the Welsh Coaches.

The Welsh National Team consists of 12 competitors and 3 coaches. We are 2 of the 12 competitors and our coach Miss Main is 1 of the 3 coaches. The competition will take place in Lublin, Poland on 17th-21st April 2024. TaeKwon-Do is not a funded sport and although this is an incredible opportunity, it will be very expensive to attend taking into account travel, entry, accommodation, kit, entry fee etc. We want to try and raise as much funds as possible to help us get there as this has been a dream we have worked tirelessly to achieve. We train for hours everyday at our Dojang and traveling weekly to train with the Welsh Squad in Cardiff.

To be recognised for your abilities and be chosen to represent your country at any sport at the highest level is one of the greatest honours anyone can wish for.
