Hello friends! Last night on January 29th my 2012 Subaru Outback‘s electrical went haywire and caught on fire. Me, my mom and my two weenie dogs were in the car and bailed out just before it became a giant fireball.
WHAT HAPPENED!?
My mom was driving me and my 2 dogs home that we had just picked up from a friends; we’d been away in Mexico getting much needed dental work done that wasn't covered by our insurance. Suddenly every light on the dash started turning on and flickering and the car started making a strange clicking then clanking noise. We pulled over and smoke started gushing out of the hood and then flowing back into the car, filling it. We jumped out and immediately something under the hood caught on fire.
I just bought this car from a nice older couple only 5 months ago who’ve been faithfully maintaining it for years and had all the paperwork for every tune up. Never had an issue with it! Unfortunately my insurance won’t cover this self-combustion.
WHY THAT AMOUNT?
I’m a freelancer so getting enough for a car is hard because of how sporadic my income is. I paid $6k for this Outback so I’m hoping to recoup the loss and get another used car for the same amount. This car is used by me and my parents right now to commute to work and run errands and everything else we need to do so this is a big blow to us.
