Get Starbucks Union Organizers to Labor Notes

We are two barista labor organizers, Ian and Burgundy, from the recently unionized Starbucks at Franklin & Villard, and we are asking for community support in raising funds to pay for plane tickets to Chicago and 2 nights of hotel rooms in order to attend the Labor Notes conference! Labor Notes is a meeting of labor organizers from around the country, “the biggest gathering out there of grassroots union activists, worker center leaders, and all-around troublemakers.” We are hoping to meet up with the numerous other groups of Starbucks Workers United members in attendance, growing our national network of barista organizers, and to trade methods with more experienced organizers both within and without the coffee industry. Hopefully it will be a deeply informative experience and we will be able to return to Eugene with both a wealth of new organizing knowledge as well as valuable national connections within the labor community. We hope that the community will be willing and able to support us in this goal and help us raise some funds! We here at Starbucks in Eugene have been immensely grateful for the outpouring of community support in our union efforts so far, and we hope that we can continue to depend on it as our fight for a union contract ramps up!
