Get the Hardy-Duvall Clan Home for Christmas!

If you've been involved in the sci-fi, anime, or gaming convention community at all in the past two decades, you've probably bumped in to the Hardy-Duvall clan at some point. Offering amazing wares ranging from fandom-inspired handcrafts to tshirts with the most wonderful puns, they've been a fixture across the country at many of our favorite convention events.

This year, COVID-19 has severely impacted their livelihood. Like most full-time vendors, all of their efforts to prepare for a successful season of working cons and making new connections, along with keeping up with old friends, suddenly ground to a halt as events were cancelling left and right due to the risks of COVID-19.

Ever resourceful, both Jesse and Ariel have managed to continue to provide for their family through odd jobs, online sales, and an enduring work ethic. And while we've been happy to see them keep their heads above water, what we'd really love to see them do is to thrive!

A few weeks ago, Ariel made contact with a representative for a local company that makes manufactured homes. They had a few models available that could suit the needs of the Hardy-Duvall family: separate bedrooms for each of their two children, a spacious kitchen for their oldest to hone his baking skills, and an office where they can continue to work on their artistic endeavors and creative outlets, including a podcast and a training course for running successful tabletop gaming sessions. The family has narrowed it down to one model, and it's one that can be ready by Christmas!

What do they need?

As of right now, Jesse and Ariel have put down a $1,000 deposit on their selected home. It's a model on the lot that was used to show to prospective homeowners before the pandemic hit, so it's ready to be installed in just a few months.

Both Jesse and Ariel have been working to restore their credit over the past few years, and they're finally approved for funding! However, due to the nature of purchasing a manufactured home, a sizeable down payment is necessary, and traditional first-time home buyer programs won't work for this house. The manufacturer has already given them every credit available to get them into a home of their own.

The pre-approval is asking for a $17,000 down payment. We are setting our initial goal significantly below this; they have already put $1,000 toward this, and may be able to supply some more, but they are being conservative with the amount they can contribute at this time, since they need to ensure the rest of their savings will cover the family's expenses for the rest of the year, since they cannot rely on convention income as they once did. They have had to put their faith in God for provision, and have not been let down; this year, despite everything, they've always had exactly what they need, when they've needed it. We believe that reaching out to the community will help to bring God's provision to their family.

Any funds donated to this campaign will go directly to the benefit of the Hardy-Duvall family, to assist in fulfilling their dream of homeownership.

What will the house mean for the Hardy-Duvall Clan?

With a decade of experience in running tabletop games of all genres, Jesse is considered an expert in the field. He started his new business venture at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, as a means of both mental escape and financial support for his family.  Running paid DM sessions and teaching online classes for creative writing and incorporating tabletop roleplay skills into everyday life has been paramount to the growth of this new business, and dedicated office space will only continue to enhance this income stream for the family.

Ariel looks forward to having space to make a house into a home. Her days are filled with homeschooling, managing her own online design business, and practicing even more self-sufficiency through gardening; a house would open up so many possibilities for her to pursue her desires to continue to support and provide for her family.

Oldest Child is an aspiring baker with dreams of working for Disney some day. While he's making things work in their rental, an expanded kitchen space would change the game and allow him to tap into his full potential as he continues to practice making goodies for his friends and family.

Youngest Child is only five, and a sensory-seeking marvel that needs plenty of "crash space." In their current home, there's not much room to zoom, and the open floor plan of their selected home would remedy this problem. He would also benefit greatly from having a room to call his own!

We thank you for your time and consideration! We can't wait to see how this lovely little family is going to continue to be blessed this year.
