Get Tie Housing & Stability

Donation protected
I’m raising funds for my very good friend Tie. Tie is a Black disabled educator and activist whose housing is at risk for speaking out against their own harassment.

Over the past 6 months, Tie has been staying in a supportive housing program that provides psychiatric support for adults living on their own. Tie was placed with an older roommate who began to harass them physically and verbally for months: persistently talking to Tie when he was instructed to go no-contact, touching without consent, grabbing to the point of inflicting pain, making inappropriate comments about Tie’s race and identity (and their partners identity), persistently asking about Tie’s romantic involvement, slamming doors, and other concerning behavior. He was finally removed from the housing unit and temporarily relocated with the plan for him to return once Tie found additional housing.

However, due to complaints from the harasser, he is being allowed an early return to the apartment, and Tie was told they had to either relocate to a shared bedroom in a monitored facility or pay for a hotel.

Tie has been a respectful participant of this program and has made every effort to be an outstanding tenant. The roommate that Tie was placed with has a history of harassment, and as a result even made a previous roommate vacate. Knowing this, the program and its facilitators are choosing to remove Tie instead of removing the harasser.

I am asking anyone for funds that will help Tie afford basic living necessities and stable housing for at least a year. This is an ongoing effort to raise funds, please share widely.

Funds will go towards:
  • Temporary shelter in a hotel
  • Food
  • Transportation
  • Medication
  • Rent

Thank you.
