Get Tommy the treatment he needs and home safely!

We are in crucial need to get Tommy the treatment required and get him home safely.

On Tuesday evening, 30/01/2024, 3 days into a holiday with his mate to Thailand to train and pursue his new found love for Muay Thai, the unexpected happened. Tommy fell victim to a scooter accident in Koh Samui where he was hit by oncoming traffic, resulting in a compound fracture and clean break of both tibia and fibula in his lower leg, among other injuries.

He was raced to hospital in ambulance where emergency surgery was needed and undertaken to save his leg. Each day in hospital is costing upwards of hundreds to thousands of dollars and is only climbing, as external fixation is required until his next surgery. His next surgery will require the insertion of an internal fixation rod to stabilise the fractured bones and promote healing. This is classified as elective surgery although it is required to allow him to fly home! Therefore payment has to be guaranteed before commencement of the surgery. The elective surgery alone, which is proposed to take place on 03/01/2024, is quoted to be at least $16,000, which does not include hospital fees that he must stay in until deemed fit to fly home. We are looking to ease the burden on Tommy and his family in any way possible to get him the treatment that is needed and home safely.

Following the initial emergency surgery, costs were already upwards of $18,000. I am asking for assistance to allow Tommy and his family to get the elective surgery needed and cover ongoing daily costs, including ward fees, medications, nurses/doctors, flights home and rehabilitation. When/if he is deemed fit to fly, flights home will need to be chartered business class and monitored to ensure safety and regression doesn’t occur. If we can assist Tommy and his family in recouping some of that funding and get Tommy the best treatment possible it would be greatly appreciated!

Muay Thai has changed Tommy's life and given him a purpose to be healthy, for this to happen to someone on a holiday is nothing short of a tragedy and we hope we can assist his family to bringing him home safely to make a full recovery.
