Jerk@Nite started in 2013 with a dream and passion for serving the community. Dee hails from two Jamaican born parents and two sets of grandparents who migrated to America hoping to achieve the great American dream. They passed on this passion and perseverance to Dee who grew into a passionate and altruistic entrepreneur who became committed to public service by providing jobs and opportunities to people in DC, MD and VA.
Jerk@Nite strived to be the first organic Jamaican restaurant paying homage to the Caribbean culture, the surrounding neighborhoods and the residents of Washington, DC. With continuous support of the DC community and surrounding states, Jerk@Nite's dream came to fruition with one food truck, then grew into two food trucks by 2017. Jerk@Nite was finally able to find a home at a brick and mortar location on popular H street in Washington DC in 2018. There has been over 180K spent to date to convert the building from a dry cleaners to a restaurant. When almost to the finish line, the pandemic hit everyone hard, but especially food establishments. Now the landlord is trying to forcibly remove Jerk@Nite and stop them from finishing renovations and finally opening the doors to the public. Jerk@Nite is being coerced into moving out and leaving the building after doing 180K worth of renovations and updates. We want the community to know we are going to fight the good fight! We need all of our loyal and new customers, our supporters from all over the US to get up and stand up and help us in the fight for our rights. We are asking the residents of DC, the surrounding neighbors, and all those who support entrepreneurs, labor workers, minority businesses to rally with us and fight against gentrification, bad faith dealings and unfair business practices. Jerk@Nite is asking for the support of the people to assist us with legal fees, construction, equipment, and keeping our staff employed. We thank you and appreciate everything the community has done for us thus far. Humanity above all!
