So,

The 3 of us Styles Alexander, Kim Ip, and ainsley tharp are the recipients of the internationally recognized Impulstanz Dance Web Scholarship. Out of nearly a thousand applicants, the three of us were chosen to be Not only is this a career shifting opportunity of LIFETIME, normally there are less than 5 individuals chosen from the United states, let alone 3 bay area BABES. <and I’m probably going to say this alot this is a really like really big deal. <<not to brag, but>>

The scholarship we received covers–

• artistic accompaniment by the danceWEB mentor Clara Furey in dialogue with Lara Kramer & Caroline Monnet

• participation in the Research Projects

• participation in the technique workshops

• free admission to all productions of ImPulsTanz 2023

• Networking opportunities with international teachers, performers and choreographers

• special projects exclusively offered to the danceWEB scholarship holders 2023

• representation in the yearly growing, international danceWEB-database

• free accommodation in Vienna for the entire period of the Scholarship Programme (5 weeks)

• free transportation in Vienna (bike rental or public transport ticket)

Here is what the scholarship does not cover:

Here's the catch-22: as a part of the Dance Web program, we are expected to co-fund our scholarship at a cost of EUR 2250 ($2,422 USD) ++ to cover all those pesky living expenses and flights that require us to pay out of pocket.

In many countries, participants are able to have this cost covered by a national arts funding body, however, in the United States those resources are not established and available.

So to reiterate, It is only possible to receive our scholarships, and all of the amazing benefits that come with it, when we are able to secure the EUR 2250 co-funding.

We are collectively coming together and pulling our resources and communities bay area and beyond to raise $15,000 that's split $5,000 each.

With the three of us attending Impulstanz together, we have space and time to deepen our artistic voices and continuous curiosities and investigation in this ever-deepening and expanding experimental dance community. This does not only affect our own embodied experience and kinesthetic growth, this gets to be brought back home to the bay area community and shared through teaching, performing, and processing with our beloved community.
