Send Violetta to the National Spelling Bee!

HUGE NEWS!!
Violetta has officially accepted a special invitation to compete in the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.!!
At just 10-years-old, Violetta is her school's spelling bee champion for two years running at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School in Homewood, AL.
She has worked SO hard to achieve her spelling success! Please help #getVtotheBee this Memorial Day weekend by donating to this very special fundraiser! ...And then help spread the word!
It is such an incredible honor to be invited to the National Spelling Bee, but the journey comes with a steep price tag.
Scripps encourages the families of its invitees to:
—fundraise within their communities, both online and offline
—enlist the help of sponsors whenever possible
—and rally as much support as possible for the participants’ academic and educational dreams
Breakdown of our goal:
(participation fee and hotel pricing pulled from Scripps’ website; airfare estimate is based on published fares on Delta and United as of 3/29/19)
• Scripps required participation fee: $1,500
• Scripps required 6-night stay at the official resort/convention center where the National Spelling Bee and all activities are held: $2,000
• Round trip airfare between Birmingham and Washington, D.C. for two over Memorial Day weekend: approx. $1,200
NOTE: We are not fundraising for additional costs such as incidentals, food, transportation, or other miscellaneous expenses associated with Bee Week! Scripps advises budgeting approximately $1,000 to cover such expenses over the course of the week for one parent and one child. Therefore, any funds raised that exceed the $4,700 goal will be put toward these expenses!
All donations big and small help get Violetta closer Bee Week. We couldn’t do this without you! After donating, please share her story and this fundraiser on social media and help spread the word about OLS’ and Birmingham’s own superstar speller!
THANK YOU!
- Isabelle, Violetta’s Mom
- Tara, Violetta’s grandmother
- Nicole, Violetta’s aunt/godmother
