Get Val the dachshund spinal surgery.
Donation protected
A few days ago our family’s beloved dog Val suddenly lost control of the back half of her body. X-rays show four of her vertebrae have collapsed into each other. We have no idea what caused it and have been distraught.
Right now she is still eating and drinking but has been unable to use the bathroom so we are concerned about blockages on top of everything else.
The vet suggested a surgery that has a pretty high success rate dealing with this kind of thing but the price is extremely high and would put us in considerable debt, on top of the hundreds we have already spent to diagnose the issue. Her regular vet is unable to perform the surgery so we would have to transport Val to a larger city to get it done. The surgeon has quoted us between $8,000-10,000, so we are setting $10,000 as our goal and if the surgery is less than that we will adjust it down.
The earlier we can get the surgery, the higher chance it has of restoring function to Val and bringing some peace to our family. Any contribution helps us avoid further financial hardship and gets Val the help she needs sooner. She is four years old and we hope has a lot of life ahead of her. Without surgery, it is likely she would have to be put to sleep.
We have qualms about asking for this kind of money in general, let alone for a dog when there are so many people who need help. But Val is a member of our family and we want to do everything we can to help her. Thank you for any relief you can provide.
With love,
