Get Winston Walking
Donation protected
Winston is a special therapy dog at Whitehall High School. He was born with glaucoma caused by trauma at birth and had to have his eye removed as a young pup. He came to our school multiple days a week when he was little to start getting used to the environment with the hopes that he would be a full-time therapy dog. He was immediately loved by the students and staff and easily earned his therapy dog certification. He is now a full-time staff member and takes his job seriously. It is amazing to see how he will navigate to a sad student, lie down near a struggling student, or nudge a withdrawn student. There are students that report that seeing Winston is the reason they come to school.
Unfortunately, Winston has torn his ACL and meniscus and requires surgery estimated between $6,000 to $7,000. Winston's mama, who graciously offered to be the main caretaker so we could have a therapy dog, is a secretary at our school and supports him every day. She should not have to take on the costs for our school dog so we are asking for any help to get Winston walking again! We miss him! We want him back to work and appreciate any amount you can give.
