Getting A Head - In Memory of Kristjan Smith

**A withdrawal has been made to pay for Kris’s memorial in full. Any surplus funds after the event has finished will be donated directly to Movember - A men’s mental health charity**

Kristjan Smith, son and brother of a Newport family, and good friend to many, took his life on 17th September 2022 following a catastrophic chain of events. He has been laid to rest in Newport cemetery and is currently without a memorial. ‘Getting A Head’ is a fundraiser organised by his friends to help address this! On the 30th of November, we will be completing several activities locally and looking to Newport and local folk to come out in style for these events.

Firstly we shall be doing a big clean in and around Victoria Park and the Skate Park in Newport, areas used by Kris as he was growing up. In the evening, we will hold a spectacular music night at The Swan in Newport, where various acts will be performing for free. This event will be ticketless but we will request donations for the cause. As well as this, throughout November, we will be encouraging as many people as possible to participate in “Movember” which will give everyone a hairy role to play in helping to raise those funds.

We are hoping to raise £3000, which will go towards Kris’s memorial. Any excess money raised will be donated to the Movember charity, devoted to supporting Men’s mental health. We would greatly appreciate any donations and would love to see you come out in support on the day/evening of the 30th!
