Getting Back to Shawn Overcoming GBS

Hello, my name is Shawn Meadows. On February 11, 2021, my world was forever changed. I went to the hospital on the February 10th with some stomach issues and was sent home with several meds. The next day, I tried walking and was unable to stand by myself. My son took me to the hospital and within hours of being admitted, I became paralyzed from the neck down. I was diagnosed with Guillain Barre Syndrome, an autoimmune disease that attacks the myelin sheath of every single nerve cell in the body. I was in ICU for 43 days intubated and then had a trach, went to a Long Term Care Facility in Dallas to be weaned off the ventilator for 6 months. Afterwards, I was in different rehab facilities for physical therapy for several months, and then was finally able to return home for Christmas in 2021. Since I have been home, I am in need of full-time assistance and cannot do any kind of functional movement on my own. My family and I are setting up this go fund me in hopes of raising money to go get Stem Cell Treatments. It is not in Texas and my family and I have heard amazing things about this facility. I AM READY TO GET BACK TO BE THE OLD SHAWN EVERYONE KNOWS! I truly feel this will propel my recovery to getting back to normal as I can be.
