Caitlin’s Going to Guatemala!!!
Donation protected
Friends and Family,
Twenty-nine years ago I was born in Guatemala. I was brought to the United States at the age of 10 months. I have never been back to Guatemala.
A few days ago, an opportunity fell into my lap to join other adoptees and their families for a week in Guatemala in July. Tony and I see this is a trip of a lifetime. We're really excited and want to go but we need to pay for the trip and purchase plane tickets quickly. We haven't had time to plan or save for this expense, which is why I'm asking for your help.
The trip cost is $1695/person. Plane tickets will be about $1000/person. Required travel insurance is about $300.
It's important to know where you come from to fully appreciate who you are. I want to return to my birth country to begin to understand what it means to be Guatemalan. I want to feel the rhythm of the place, the language, and the music. I want to eat foods filled with new flavors, wander the markets, talk to the people. I want to swim in Lake Atitlan, hike a volcano, and pick up a little Spanish.
The group nature of the trip and the fact I'll be traveling with others who have also been adopted makes it so appealing. My 15-year-old biological cousin, Tolido Klein, will be on the trip with his family from Texas. We met for the first time last summer after a 23andMe DNA test brought us together. I look forward to spending more time with them.
To say I am scared and excited at the same time is an understatement! I’m giving it all to God to help me get there.
I believe if this is what God wants, HE WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN, anything helps.
Prayers
