Running London Marathon 2025 for Fairmead Special School

My 10 year old daughter attends a local SEN school having been diagnosed with Sotos Syndrome at 18 months old.

The school have been incredible with her and therefore I will be running the London Marathon in 2025 to raise funds for them to put towards purchasing a new Minibus. This will not only benefit my daughter but also many other SEN children who attend.

Fairmead is a special needs school, situated on the outskirts of Yeovil, for children between the ages of four and nineteen with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Moderate Learning Difficulties.

We currently have 149 children from a large catchment area including the whole of South Somerset and into Dorset.

The school encourages and supports our students in developing skills, understanding and knowledge so that they can make informed and positive choices about their futures.

In September this year we turn 60 years old and we would love to make it our best year yet!

Our current minibus was gifted to us in 2001 and has been used on a daily basis to take children on day trips, to forest school and enables the opportunity for our children to get out into the local community. These trips are essential for our children to undertake to assist them with building independence, life skills and providing them with opportunities that they may never have experiences before. These trips are enjoyed by everyone and a large part of our curriculum.

Unfortunately, due to the amount of use over the years, the minibus is now in desperate need of replacing as it is no longer cost effective due to regular servicing and maintenance that it requires.

A replacement minibus is not funded by the local council however we are desperate to continue giving our children these incredible opportunities by purchasing a new wheelchair accessible minibus.
