Getting Juju Back On His Feet!

The little boy we all know and love, Julius (aka: Juju, Pooj, & Joojie), suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury and needs your help on the road to recovery!
We were alarmed late last week when Juju began limping, but became very concerned on Friday when the limp progressed to the point of dragging both his back legs. After a trip to the Veterinary Hospital at NCSU, we learned that he had a herniated disc between his L2 and L3 vertebrae.
He went straight from MRI to operating table on Saturday afternoon and came out of surgery around 9pm. The neurological specialists made a 12 inch incision and performed a hemilaminectomy (they drilled holes in at least 2 of his vertebrae, removing the excess disc material that was compressing his spinal cord and causing the paralysis).
The veterinarians at NCSU are confident that Juju will make a full recovery. Dogs with this kind of injury - especially at Juju's young age of 6 - that undergo this surgery have a 90-95% chance of recovery and a low chance of the same injury recurring.
This morning, Sunday 1.10.2021, the vet called us to let us know that Juju is already progressing on his recovery journey beyond their expectations! They warned us that many dogs regress the first day of recovery and wanted us to be prepared for news that would challenge our spirits, but instead he was showing signs of motor control in his back legs as well as improved feeling in his toes. These small improvements are encouraging, but they are also indicative of the long road ahead. Juju's recovery will take at least eight weeks, the first 4-7 days of that being in a round-the-clock care facility.
As you might imagine, the treatment Juju is receiving is costly. It is for that reason that we are reaching out to you for help. We cannot express how thankful we already are for the love, prayers, and support we have been receiving from friends and family. If you are able, we would be overwhelmingly appreciative for any financial help you share for our precious Puggle blessing's recovery.
