EMBASSY 2019: VENICE
Donation protected

Richard Bell is one Australia’s most significant artists, who explores the complex artistic and political issues surrounding Western, colonial and Indigenous art production. In 2019, Richard will take his new work “We Don’t Really Need This/Bell Invites” to the Venice Biennale. A continuation of the Indigenous land rights (not Native Title!) and anti-racism activism mobilized through the “original” Aboriginal Tent Embassy, established on the lawns of Australian Parliament in January 1972, this significant new work comprises two components:
1. Staging EMBASSY: BELL Invites; At a venue to be announced.
2. We Don’t Really Need This: Transforming a replica of the Australian Pavilion wrapped in chains and sailing it past the Biennale
As an aesthetic experience, we believe it has the potential to be a rare thing: both spectacle and critique.
Be a part of the ground breaking journey.....
