Mission
Great Fortune Films Academy, in partnership with Sisters Creating Content Inc., seeks to educate, inspire and prepare aspiring filmmakers for successful careers in various fields of the television and film industry.
What is Great Fortune Films?
Great Fortune Films is a television and film production company; spearheaded by emerging filmmaker, Latisha Fortune. Since 2008, Great Fortune Films has produced over a dozen short films and television pilots, including The Doorpost Film Project award-winning Before I Wake and The Black Cage, both films were finalists in the 2010 BET Lens on Talent Film Contest. Short film Standing Reign was awarded ‘Best Film of Atlanta’ in the 48 Hour Film Festival, ‘Best Short’ in the TOMI Film Festival of New Orleans, ‘Best Narrative Short’ in the International Black Film Festival of Nashville and was also chosen for distribution on the “Best of 48 Hour Film Project 2007” DVD. In 2014, Great Fortune Films produced the short film THE END AGAIN, a pensive portrait of a couple's last day together as they emphatically end their five-year relationship and a prequel to the upcoming feature film, REALLY LOVE (Macro). The End Again screened at the Urbanworld Film Festival, Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival, Black Star Film Festival, and Hollyshorts Film Festival. Doc-reality series, TWIIN (2016), explores the doppelganger theory and aired on CBS Atlanta.
In addition to Great Fortune Films Academy, an intensive training and mentoring initiative for up-and-coming TV and film professionals, Great Fortune Films has
several projects in development for 2020 including the forthcoming web series and feature film, CLOSE TO HOME, and films SYMPHONY OF HER, BARRS and HER IMPERIAL MAJESTY.

What is this workshop with Great Fortune Films Academy about?
This workshop is designed for aspiring and rising filmmakers, ages 18-25, who are interested in pursuing a career in the film and television industries. Each segment will involve instruction on the macro and microplanning and developing a project for television and/or film, including how to manage day to day operations of working on a television or film set. Participants will be afforded an opportunity to collaborate with established accredited professionals in the industry on a feature film and digital series project, earning professional IMDB credit on a project.
Our Rationale
• The state of Georgia is ranked as the #1 filming location worldwide. This translates to an abundance of opportunities in the Georgia market for those pursuing careers in the television and film industry — and therefore a need for professional training and support.
• While many TV/film workshops provide training in just one area of filmmaking and most new talent to the field primarily focus on the work of the actor, director, writer or producer, not realizing that there are a variety of other positions that contribute toward completing the creative vision. The Great Fortune Films Academy recognizes that filmmaking is a collaborative art and approaches teaching from a holistic curriculum perspective, equipping aspiring and rising pros with a full understanding of all the roles necessary to realize a creative vision successfully.
