Supporting the Hill Family

Hi, my name is Bonnie and I am creating this page to help support the Hill family of Richmond, and in particular their youngest son Markus, who has recently been diagnosed with bone cancer. Markus and his older brother Mattias attended Dixon Elementary, where many staff members like me, taught and interacted with the Hill family over the past ten years. During this time, we have witnessed the kind, positive, and inclusive nature of this family, and we are heartbroken to hear of Markus' recent diagnosis. The Hill family runs a lovely book store in Steveston called Village Books and like many small business owners, they have been significantly affected by the pandemic and are now facing another unthinkable challenge. Markus is currently at BC Children's Hospital in traction, and is receiving chemotherapy treatment. We miss his smiling face at Dixon and ask that you join us in doing something special to honour a young boy whose positive and welcoming nature has been a gift to so many other children.
