ALS Diagnosis
Donation protected
Hi! My name's Mikayla, my dad recently got an ALS diagnosis. He has been unable to work since May this year. It all started with a kidney stone and a couple nights in the hospital. He had started having issues with his legs and we thought it was just from being in so much pain with the kidney stone. My dad was denied short term disability due to the negligence of his employer. Several doctors later, he was sent for testing at UC and came back with an ALS diagnosis just this month. Also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, ALS is a fatal neurodegenerative disease that causes nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord to die off. This affects his mobility and speech. He has a fairly young diagnosis at 47 years old. Anything helps at this point even just sharing his story. We have so much amazing family to support us all and the ALS foundation has been so wonderful to work with so far. Thank you so much to anyone who can contribute, everything goes towards my family.
