Water & Bathroom for Ghana Girls
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Khloe! I'm 12 years old, and I'm passionate about giving back to others. I started a nonprofit organization called Khloe Kares , where my mom and I assemble and give out hand-sewn bags filled with toiletries and other necessities, and hand them out to homeless men and women around the country. So far, we've distributed over 5,000 bags!
Through my efforts with Khloe Kares, I have been afforded many amazing opportunities. In 2017, I had the honor of being invited to visit the Dawn Sunday Girls in Ghana. They invited me to come meet some of the children there, and provide them with a week of empowerment, encouragement and motivation. From the moment I met them, we had an instant connection.
The Dawn Sunday Girls are a group of 12 girls who live in a village in Kumasi, Ghana. These girls are bright, beautiful, and smart.
Like many villages in Ghana, there is no running water or electricity for these girls. Sadly, this is the norm. But more important is the water pump and bathroom facility - they need one for their school. I recently visited their school on my 2nd trip to Ghana in November 2018. And their bathroom was disappointing, unsanitary and is not fit for children to use.
We have already installed one bathroom and water pump at a school in Ghana in 2017. Now we need to get one installed at the school where the Dawn Sunday Girls attend with nearly 2,000 other children. At the moment, the bathroom is kind of like an outhouse with 2 holes in the floor. The kids stand over it and pee in the hole. Our project will take this bathroom from 2 stalls to 10 - 15 individual stalls with flushing toilets, running water to wash their hands, and a newly installed water pump to keep things up and running.
This is where you come in! To get the pump and bathroom facility installed, it will cost $15,000. This will cover the cost to drill, make space for the bathroom, and get the water pump installed. We’ll be heading to Ghana this December and want to make this come to life for these deserving kids.
Please help me make a huge difference in the lives of these amazing girls. They deserve the best and we can make it happen for them. If you aren't able to donate, please consider sharing to help spread the word.
