Hi, we’re Jonathan and My living in Sweden with our dogs Nessie, Rocka and Acey. We need your help for our beloved 2-year-old Borzoi, Nessie. She is fighting for her life since October 30th, when she was diagnosed with Chylothorax together with Thrombosis (a blood clot), a rare and life-threatening condition. It started with her sitting down twice on a walk, looking like she struggled to breathe. After calling two local veterinary clinics we opted for going in to a larger clinic to check her out. Just two hours after her playing tug of war with Acey over a stolen slipper she was admitted to the ICU with the prognosis looking rather grim. They drained over 3 litres of fluid from her chest cavity, put in drains and performed a CT-scan which revealed the clot. They have never seen a case like hers before, there’s very little information about it to be found and limited cases in literature.
We're facing significant costs for her medical care. Each day in ICU costs $1000, and we expect to exceed $10,000 by the end of the weekend. She will receive medication for the thrombosis, hopefully it will disappear, but the likelihood of it doing so is low. We also need to identify the underlying cause of her condition. If she’s stable enough she may need surgery to close off any leakage in her lymphatic system. This could bring her treatment costs to $20,000 or more, the vet has estimated up to $25,000 for her overall treatment - possibly more, as we don’t really know what we’re dealing with. Fortunately we have insurance and savings that cover up to $16,000, but we need help with the remaining expenses.
Update Nov 26th: Nessie has the surgery planned for December 2, they gave us an updated estimated cost at $10,900-$12,757 (kr120,000-kr140,000).
The total cost for her treatment so far, excluding the upcoming surgery, has been $17724 (kr194,355). Nessie's insurance maxed out at $4909 (kr53,833). So far, we've paid $12,798 (kr140,472) with all of our savings and your donations. All recipes are added at the end of this page for transparency.

She’s the happiest, full of life, mischievous, cuddliest, dramatic dog. She with the softest, fluffiest ears, with a spaghetti body, beady little eyes, with those little stupid looking front canines always sticking out… With a ridiculous shape of fur over her shoulder, nose so bendy it doesn’t seem possible, with her four paws standing in each corner, she with at least a dozen foxes behind her ears. She whom we suspect might have some opossum somewhere in her blood, she who loves water so much she completely submerges herself into it, she who drinks with her nose resting on the corner of the water bowl, she who constantly drinks from any coffee cup, she who's always looking for something mischievous to do. She who shows her teeth to insects like ants before attacking them, she who shows her teeth before accepting any treats or toys. She who dries her nose off on our couch, she who rests her head pressed against us wanting cuddles, she who never wants to stop playing tug-o-war. She who complains loudly about the unfairness of the world at any inconvenience, she who snaps her mouth in the air when she wants something, she who sits on the couch like a human and watches TV. She. How is it even possible that she might not live to be 3 years old? How can we go from having her here, next to us, to her fighting for her life in just a couple hours?

She’s critical but stable, at the moment she’s comfortable and as long as what we're doing isn't harming her in any way we want to do whatever we possibly can for her. We're ready to go into debt over her, but we wanted to try setting up this Gofundme in case it could help us cover some of the costs. Anything you can contribute will help us keep fighting for her life.
Thank you for your support. We just want our Nessie to come home and for everything to be okay again.
