Ghostship Memorial

Donation protected
The Ghostship Memorial is in need of repair. It has been removed from the Emeryville shoreline and will require community support for her restoration. Chris Edwards, the original artist, is no longer with us. Supporting his original creation are a collection of builders, artists and a shipwright. All money received will go strictly toward supplies to restore this piece to its original condition. Should this fundraiser exceed the amount requested, the additional amount will go toward increasing the hull thickness below the waterline or possibly adding copper plating to deter further growth.

On December 2, 2016, 36 people died in the Ghostship warehouse fire while attending an event. This boat was built and launched by Chris Edwards to honor those lost. We have since lost Chris as well but the memorial he created has become a Bay Area treasure that many over the years have continued to maintain.
