Lauren's Brain Stem Surgery Fund

Hey everyone, I'm Kristy Wynter, Studio Director at Evolution Performance Centre, Miss Lauren Hustler is our Director of Ballet, teacher extraordinaire and also a very close friend.  You may know her in some way shape or form through Ballet, you may even have been taught by her! One thing you may not know (as she is so keen to keep on keeping on) is that Miss Lauren has a condition called Chiari Malformation causing Syringomyelia.  Chiari Malformations are a group complex of brain abnormalities effecting the posterior region of the skull where the brain and spinal cord connect.  These are interupting the flow of cerbrospinal fluid causing Lauren to experience extreme headaches, burning sensations, pain and weakness in the arms and legs, radiating burning and pins and needles from the centre of the spine across the shoulders and neck.  Miss Lauren is now experiencing difficulty in swallowing , speech, balance and coordination. Syringomyelia is where a fluid filled cyst is present in the spinal canal which is causing permanent nerve interuption and damage to Lauren.  A surgery was performed in 2012 to attempt to reduce the pressure and size of the cyst.  Unfortunately this was not successful and now Lauren urgetly needs decompression surgery to stop her symptoms worsening and also to prevent permanent damage of her spinal cord.  The surgery is a huge neurosurgical procedure where parts of her skull will be removed and repositiioned to allow space for her cerebral fluid to flow more freely.  Her surgery is booked for 23rd March 2016.  I am hoping to raise some money for Miss Laurens Surgery to assist with the surgical bills, recovery, medical bills and loss of income during this time.  Miss Lauren is a beloved member of staff and makes such a difference with our students, she absolutely goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has the best experience in her class and with the world of Ballet in general.  It would mean so much if we could now give back to her and help her through this extremely difficult time.  I thank you for even taking the time to read and consider a donation.  Thank you so much.
