Gianni’s recovery

Donation protected
Gianni was at the Sweet & Savory shop in East Haddam, CT preparing for its grand opening next month. Gianni, 25 along with some friends had been working on making their little dream into reality. Upon leaving the shop, he was in a very bad car accident on his way home. We are unsure what exactly happened but we know the conditions outside weren't good. That day, Gianni and one of partners had got to the shop early. They opened up the shop and made their morning hot beverages while catching up on the last few hours they hadn't seen each other. Gianni and his partners have been working daily to bring this dream to fruition and have been spending every day together working to open their ice cream shop and small bakery. Gianni's mom and grandma stop by the shop along with some more family and his 3rd partner. Gianni and his team have worked so hard this past month and were just excited to be in the kitchen doing what they came to do! While everything else was visiting and chatting, Gianni in the kitchen with his grandma. He had just baked the most amazing focaccia bread. Gianni who is closest to his mom, grandmother and sister, was in the kitchen, of course! Gianni's grandmother joined him in the kitchen and quickly she had rearranged and re organized the kitchen to work for Sweet & Savory! The team had a really great time. They loved on each other and were celebrating their up-and-coming opening. They talked about ideas and how excited they are to open, meet all of their future customers and make delicious food for them! Everyone left one by one and no one had noticed it had been snowing. Gianni said bye and that he would be back in the morning. Gianni was driving home through East Hampton. He crashed into a rock wall. His mom and 911 were alerted to a crash through an app. The East Hampton Rescue crew arrived on scene. His mom and grandma were on the scene as well. Gianni was pretty beat up from the accident. His leg was visably mangeled and there was a lot of blood BUT he was alert and talking. Once in the ambulance Gianni suffered a seizure, something he has never experienced before. The amazing Rescue crew of East Hampton decided the best place for him to go was Hartford Hospital. Upon arriving to Hartford Hospital, Gianni became unresponsive and was placed on a ventilator. Everyone was alerted. Our hearts broke for Gianni. Gianni had emergency surgery that night. The next afternoon Gianni was alert, responsive and eventually talking!! In true Gianni fashion, one of his first concerns was getting back to work at the bakery! As of this post Gianni is doing as well as can be expected but has a long and extensive recovery ahead. Later today he will have to undergo another surgery. He will have a permanent rod in his leg. We are unsure at this time how much care and how many more medical procedures he will need. We are so grateful Gianni is alive! There are certain people that cannot be replaced. Gianni is one of them. ♥️ His passion, creativity, and love for food cannot be replicated. If you know Gianni you know he has the most beautiful spirit, soul, and presence. He is passionate about making good food and shows his love for people through his talent. Please keep Gianni in your thoughts and prayers and please help us with any medical expenses and needs he has at this time.
