Gideon Baker's Funeral and Medical Expenses

We all prayed for a miracle… but God had different plans. (His ways are not always our ways. Isa. 55:8)

Gideon was 16 years old living an active and vibrant life. He played sports for the Rockingham Rage, he sang in the church choir, and he loved his family and his church. Everyone that knew Gideon, would attest to what a fine, Christian young man he was.

On Sunday, January 15th Gideon woke up sick. By Monday his parent suspected appendicitis and they took him in for surgery that seemingly went well. Three days after surgery, Gideon was taken back to the ER due to an infection that had set in. Within hours his organs began to fail and he was rushed to Brenners hospital and put in ICU. The following day his heart stopped for 15 minutes; and even though life-saving actions were taken to get his heartbeat back he was never able to recover.

For the next 24 hours, churches across the country lifted him up in prayer, pastors and friends went by the hospital to pray with the family, and even his basketball team, (#ragefamily) along with the opposing team they were supposed to play that night, forewent their game to go to the hospital and pray for a miracle. But on Saturday, January 21st, God chose to take Gideon home.

With any unexpected loss, no matter the age, funeral expense is a tremendous cost. Plus, the extended efforts of medical staff to try and save Gideon’s life was also very costly...

If Gideon was still with us today, would you be willing to take him out for one final meal? Unfortunately, Gideon is not still with us but his family is. For that reason, we are asking anyone that is financially able, if you could spare the price of that one final meal with Gideon, will you instead help his family out with medical and burial expenses? $5, $10, or whatever the Lord lays on your heart. These funds raised will be used to cover the cost of Gideon’s final expenses.

Even if you can’t help out financially, we know the Baker family would cherish your prayers through this difficult time in their lives.
