HfC Back to School Campaign for 50 Internally Displaced Children for the Academic Year 2020-2021
In Cameroon's Northwest and Southwest regions, political tensions which started out as protests in 2016 have erupted into violent clashes and a full-blown humanitarian crisis in 2020.
As of October 2020, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) estimates that there are about 679,000 internally displaced people (IDPs) from the North West and Southwest regions, almost half of whom are children. These children have been out of school for over four years and have no access to proper education due to a lack of tuition fees, uniforms, school bags, and other basic didactic materials.
Since its launch in December 2019, Hope for Cameroon (HfC) has helped to deliver basic humanitarian assistance and skills training workshops to over 120 IDPs in Bonaberi, Douala. Presently, HfC is working to assist 50 IDP children by offering them a decent education in their neighborhoods in Douala, Cameroon.
We believe that children have a right to education, as it is the only ladder through which they can climb their way out of poverty. Currently, HfC has partly sponsored 14 out of the 50 IDP kids, but the main challenge is limited resources. Now more than ever, these children need our help! Your donation goes towards paying their tuition, books/textbooks, uniforms, school bags, pens, and pencils. This project can’t be fully completed without your donation. Choose today, to change the life of a child. Give them the gift of an education. Thank you!
