Gift Books to Migrant Children
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
Chicago is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. As a designated Sanctuary City, Chicago has welcomed more than 14,000 refugees in the past year, and more arrive each day. The vast majority are from Mexico and countries throughout Central and South America.
While Chicagoans have been generous in providing for the basic needs of the migrants, I would like to offer them additional comfort—and some fun— through the gift of Spanish language and bilingual children’s books. I am donating my books—at cost, and my time to distribute books to shelters throughout the city.
Imagine how thrilled the children will be to have books in their own language! Think of how wonderful parents will feel to read stories to their children in their native tongue!
My distribution goal is 1,300 three-book bundles (3,900 books). I have already donated 300 bundles (900 books).
I hope you will partner with me in bringing joy to Chicago’s newest and most vulnerable residents! Please share this campaign with your friends!
Muchas Gracias!
Elaine Harrison
