Gifting Kari a new start and healed body
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sharon, and I am Kari's mother. I want to share my thoughts on my first born daughter, she was a fiesty child with the most beautiful hair. We thought she would be a lawyer since she talked or argued her point all the time. As a teenager, she was an easy child and gave me very few worries. The adult Kari became my best friend and gave us all two beautiful grandchildren to love.
Ten years ago, we noticed Kari was not looking well and was unable to complete simple tasks and lost a ton of weight. The diagnosis of CML ( Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia) was given when she was hospitalized with chronic pain in her spleen. My heart was broken, Kari proved she was stronger than the diagnosis and had some good years with the help of meds. She managed to work and raise her two kids alone. The medications have stopped working, and now she needs a bone marrow transplant. Since the diagnosis, I have watched my daughter figure it out financially, but cancer comes with huge price tag because health insurance pays for the treatment of cancer but not the diagnosis. She was never in full remission over the last ten years. Which meant her out of pocket expenses each year totaled over $15,000 per year.
These funds will be used to help her pay for care during her 100 day process for a bone marrow transplant. So your donation will go to things like:
paying off the balance which insurance will not cover
transportation
lodging
the care of her son who is staying with Kari's friends since she is at Mayo Clinic in Rochester
Covering expenses of not working since this is 120 day process
Kari is my hero. If you know her, I am sure she has touched your heart in many ways. If you don't know her, she is a great listener to all her friends and family. She is constantly working on herself to become the best human she can be. We are grateful for all she will receive.
