Our Heroes: Gila Bend Fire Rescue
Donation protected
At approximately 1:08 am on August 22, 2018, 4 hours into a cross-country road trip (San Diego to Durham, NC), Eric suffered sudden cardiac arrest. The Gila Bend Fire Rescue crew was on site within minutes of receiving the 911 call -- Eric didn't have a pulse or a heartbeat.
After working on him, on the side of the road, for approximately 15 minutes, they were able to get a pulse and transport him to the awaiting helicopter. 10 days after this horrific event, Eric went home and is expected to make a full recovery.
For those of you who know us, or who've been following Eric's journal via the Caringbridge web-site, you know that we consider the Gila Bend Fire Rescue crew our heroes. Without them, Eric wouldn't be here today.
The Gila Bend Fire Department, located in the small town of Gila Bend, AZ, is a volunteer fire department who survive on a very limited budget. It's our hope that we can help the GBFD / GBFR, by donating funds raised thru this campaign. What they gave to us was priceless - no amount of money raised can ever repay them. But maybe we can ease some burdens for them - we don't have any specific item(s) in mind, but rather simply give all donations directly to them so they can decide where to apply the funds.
The Facebook post by Tracee will give you an idea of how awesome this group is.
